WHAT WE ARE:
Mondial Santa Barbara, Inc. specializes in service and experience, emphasizing quality products and genuine care.

Mondial Santa Barbara, Inc. currently consists of six departments:
    Mondial Private Restaurant – an on-site, fully functioning private dining room which comfortably seats up to 40 guests.  Unique to Santa Barbara, this is the only private restaurant of its kind.
    Quantum Private Restaurant & Lounge – Truly a “private restaurant”.  Kitchen, chefs & staff all exclusively yours for the evening.  Sleek and modern, quiet and comfortable, personal and secluded.  
    Mondial Full-service Off-site Catering - Restaurant quality off-premise catering.  Focusing on the special elements of fine dining, cooking product ‘a la minute’ (to order) and bringing the restaurant on location.
    Basic Catering – Featuring a small listing of BBQ and picnic menus that are straightforward, easy and affordable.  A bridge between full-service and boxed, offering fine food and service at a minimized level.
    Quantum “boxed” – Fine food delivered or ready for pick-up.  Utilized when little or no service is required.  Menu items have been designed so that food can be easily plattered and comes ready to go.
    Hot Water Consulting – A specific consulting leg of the company offering production advice for large events, staffing services and restaurant & catering consulting.

WHO WE ARE:
We are a group of like minds working together for one common goal.  Quietly and effortlessly we will provide the elements and energy that drive the event through its appropriate stages.  Constantly we consider what will be happening 30 minutes from now, strategically planning to keep everything flowing smoothly.  Our vitality unobtrusively lends to the overall mood of the affair working in unison with host and guests alike.  People will ask “how did this all come together?”  People will wonder “who made this happen?”  Our intention is to have it appear as a painless task – stress-free and uncomplicated allowing the event’s occasion to play center-stage.

We strive to create a seamless event with all the elements of a fine dining restaurant – fine tableware, considerate service, elegant surroundings, interesting wine and beverages and overall; flavorful, attractive cuisine.

We are not gimmicky.  We let the ingredients speak for themselves.  We believe that initial quality – in food and people – is the basis for a rich end-product.  We choose the best and then add our twist without manipulating the components beyond necessity.  In food, the farmer, the rancher, the harvester, the fishermen are paramount to the value of the ingredient.    In people, the individual personality lends to the collective experience.  Our belief is that the sum truly is greater than the parts if the parts are of the highest quality.


OUR BACKGROUND:
Mondial owners, entrepreneurs, and good friends Scott Schonzeit and Cynthia Miranda love to cook, entertain, eat and enjoy good wine. It’s this combination of passions that create the foundation for their premier restaurant, private dining establishment and catering company in Santa Barbara.

The two met in 1998 while working together at Wine Cask Catering in Santa Barbara, where they were instrumental in its success and the creation of cutting edge events and philosophies for the company. In 1999 Cynthia, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management from Northern Arizona University, ventured out on her own to open the acclaimed Sage & Onion restaurant, where she gained first hand knowledge running a fine dining restaurant business.

Meanwhile Scott, a UCSB alum, was hired on as the Marketing Director for Meridian Wine Market.  He was influential in the marketing and service standards of the wine bar. Here he honed his interest in food and wine paring and implemented a stellar staff training program for the corporation.

Over many late night sushi runs and martinis at their favorite watering hole, The Tee-Off, the duo formulated the Mondial concept. Knowing a fine-dining venue for groups was needed in Santa Barbara, they took their restaurant, catering and business expertise and opened Mondial in April 2002. Mondial has been serving rehearsal dinner & wedding goers, corporate clients & pharmaceutical companies, birthday & anniversary celebrators ever since.

A distinct American spirit is applied to all of our dishes, and we continuously surprise guests with both preparation and presentation. With a special devotion to local ingredients, our menu boasts both the heart of comfort food and the delicate balance of culinary complexity. We believe in ample portions, hearty flavors and lively table conversation while advocating attentive service, with the spark and ease of jazz. We believe in community, farmer’s markets, a bar filled with regulars and eating off of one another’s plates - think of us as an elegantly heightened gourmet experience…dressed for casual day.
